NameScanner is a Windows program for quickly scanning a list of domain
names (com, net, org) for availability. The current version scans about 60
names per minute (tests done with a 56K dialup, at low traffic hours).
After you type in a list of domain names, NameScanner reports on whether or
not these names are currently free for you to register.
You can also let the program generate a list of semi-random names by
entering search patterns. E.g.: 4 letter COM and/or NET and/or ORG domains,
starting with "e"; names starting or ending with a word of your choice, and
so on...
The results of a scanning session can be saved to a disk file.
Furthermore, any textfile containing domain names can be imported. If
necessary, you can "clean up" (filter) the list, removing all words that do
not contain .COM and/or .NET and/or .ORG
The Paste from ClipBoard feature is great for scanning a list of "expired"
domains that you find on some websites. Tip: in your browser, select any
part of a web page, copy to the Clipboard. Don't open the page's
source-code, but simply select text by dragging over the browser screen and
press Ctrl-C. Next, click NameScanner's Paste button. Bingo!
