Nico's Backup saves your valuable business, tax, financial and
legal data but also your cherished personal e-mails,
family-heirloom digital photos or videos and creative works from
being lost when something happens to your PC. Get all your data
back in no time after a hard drive failure, lightning strike,
motherboard failure or outright theft of the system. You can even
use backup sets to assist in moving files to a new PC, get the new
box set up and ready to use in a flash.
Nico's Backup will automatically store specified files and folders
into a single ZIP file that can be filed on disk, burned on CD/DVD
or sent to an FTP site. To define backup sets Nico's Backup uses a
simple step-by-step wizard, which helps you selecting
files/folders, backup locations and backup schedules. When the
defining of the backup set is done, you can leave the rest up to
Nico's Backup.
Limitations:
* It would be tempting to use Nico's Backup to make a backup
of the drive on which you installed Windows. Don't! There are
several problems with this approach. First, some files will be in
use by Windows, and Nico's Backup will get no chance of copying
them. Your backup will thus be incomplete. Second, runing Nico's
Backup itself changes some Windows files all the time. You will be
backing up a moving target. Third, you are backing up to be able
to restore at some time in the future. Well, to be able to restore
you will need some program, like Nico's Backup. To run Nico's
Backup you will need Windows. But your system disk crashed, and
you have no Windows, that's why you grabbed your backup!
Thus: use Nico's Backup to save your data, and find some
other solution to backup your system drive. The helpfile of Nico's
Backup describes some ways to do this.
Requirements:
* A Windows NT/2000/XP system.
* If you want to save backup sets to an FTP site you will need
an Internet connection.
* If you want to burn backup sets on CD/DVD you will of course
need a CD/DVD-writer drive in your machine.
