Rayspace is an hugely flexible room acoustics simulator. It gives you a 50m
square area in which you can draw your own rooms, hallways, and caves -
basically anything you like!
Surround sound compatible! Uses the front and rear speakers to create a
completely immersive feeling, with echoes and direct sounds coming from real
positions around the listener.
Tying the audio and visual was an important goal here, instead of being faced
with pages of numbers and graphs the user hears what they see. The flexibility
of drawing rooms with a one metre resolution and a handful of parameters gives a
huge range of atmospheres to play in.
Rayspace uses up to 512 different ray-traced sound directions, each one
continuously collecting information from the enclosures. Taking into account air
absorbency and the effect of each wall reflection and filtering made en route to
the listener.
All main controls are automated, so the user can record listener movements and
rotations, as well as source locations in the host sequencer.
RaySpace does not use any smearing filters, or any convolution algorithms. It
simple bounces the rays around the scene and returns a clean but complex effect
back to the listener.
