Due by a couple of request i've decided to make this little crack available to disable the Sentinel Dongle on Tally v6.3 ees i'm not 100% sure that works like it should but test are welcome. because i don't even know how to use tally i don't study administration :D. i just tried to remove the dongle and i'll hope is gone! :)) ok. to remove the Sentinel Dongle that really sucks. do this: close tally, then apply the patch in the program directory. in the program directory there are a couple of exe file not neccesaries. that's the Sentinel dongle files two of them are: Sentinel.vxd and Sentinel.sys delete both of them or leave them there if you want but that only waste disk space :-o)
if you have ejecuted the file: spnsrv9x.exe or spnsrvnt.exe then your system might be loading the dongle every time windows starts and that file will be in the system directory of windows here: C:\Windows\System or C:\Windows\System32 and there will be as well the file : Sentinel.vxd
delete both of them. and use the file supplied by me: Winrun2.exe to remove the registry entry corresponded to the dongle: spnsrv9x.exe you will see it there.. just delete it. it is save to do it.
this is the entry:
SSP-server
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\spnsrv9x.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\spnsrvnt.exe
if you're having an error message when loading Tally you might be missing this file: Win87em.dll if you can't load tally then copy that file to your windows system directory here: C:\Windows\System
i've made some modifications to the tally.ini file..maybe it works replace the original one with the one edited by me in the tally directory. also the file tally.sav content all the tally settings, you can edit that file with the settings for your needs. open the file with notepad settings are between "" with Yes or No data. edit it if you think something will help you there. before closing the file save it but don't change the extention: .sav save it with the same name. there's another file named: Tally.dat i'm not sure what that file really does.. but maybe is dongle suspicious :-O) if you think it should not be there then delete it.. i did and tally loads and works like usual. but make sure to make a backup of any files before editing or deleting. in case something goes wrong.
ok is time to say good bye! good luck and enjoy tally! :))
