How to get any TomTom Navigator 3 maps working without activation.

1- Run the TomTom Navigator 3 SetUp (from any country CD).
2- Install the Navigator application.
3- Install whatever map you want, to your memory/storage card.
During the INSTALLATION, when prompted for a "product code", DO NOT enter anything, just click on the ARROW to move to the next step.
4- When installation is complete, NAVIGATE to the folder where the country map was installed, you will notice a file called "map_name.mid", where "map_name" is (DUH!) the name of the map (ie: "london.mid" if you installed the map of London).
5- RENAME (for backup purpose!) that file by adding ".old"at the end of it (ie: "london.mid.old").
6- COPY the file "RENAME_THIS_FILE.mid" (included in this archive) to the country map folder, and RENAME it to the name of the original "map_name.mid".

Repeat the same process for any additional maps you wish to install, including Major Roads of Europe (MRE).
You can also apply the 3.0.1 update available from TomTom' website (if you need it).

Everything should work fine.

Please note, that I'm not trying to steal the glory from anyone. It was
that found the way to make it work!

I only posted this "How To" for those who didn't quite understand
's instructions, and/or for those who don't want (or haven't got
sufficient storage space) to install extra maps just to get the .mid
file.

If you don't want to use the file in the archive:
- Install the Navigator 3 application.
- Install the Major Routes of Europe map (do not enter a product code).
- Browse to the "Major_Routes_Of_Europe Navigator Map" directory on
your PPC/storage card.
- Copy and paste the file "Major_Roads_Of_Europe.mid" to the folder of
any other map installed that require activation.
- Rename the original "map_name.vid" (where "map_name" is the name of
the map (ie: "london.mid" if you installed the map of London)) to
"map_name.mid.old" (for backup).
- Rename the copied "Major_Roads_Of_Europe.mid" to the original name of
"map_name.mid".

Done!
