MIMIC Simulator Suite
MIMIC Simulator offers a unique and an inexpensive way to create
a real world lab environment. It provides an interactive
hands-on lab for quality assurance, development, marketing,
sales, evaluation, deployment and training of enterprise
management applications. It creates a "virtual lab" populated
with devices like routers, hubs, switches, probes, cable modems
and workstations.
The MIMIC Simulator Suite includes:
MIMIC SNMP Agent Simulator
MIMIC SNMP Agent Simulator creates a network of 10,000
SNMP-manageable devices on one Intel-based PC or Sun SPARC. With
support for any SNMP-based device you can run a variety of device
configurations with your management application.
MIMIC simulated devices respond to SNMPv1, SNMPv2C and SNMPv3
queries on any of its configured IP addresses. It appears to
the Network Management Application as if it is talking to actual
devices. Each device has its own IP address, independent
read and write SNMP community strings and notion of uptime.
Devices can be configured at run-time, both on an individual and
collective basis.
MIMIC Cable Modem Simulator
The MIMIC Cable Modem Simulator, the industryÆs first integrated
simulation tool supporting DOCSIS, allows cable modem
developers and cable companies to perform real world, integrated
cable and internetworking device simulations. MIMIC allows
suppliers of cable modems to design, develop and test their
products in a virtual and scalable network environment, assuring
customers that their cable modems will work properly when
deployed across heterogeneous environments. Cable providers can
use
MIMIC to simulate the 1000s of households that use cable modems
to assure the scalability of cable management software. In
addition, providers can also use MIMIC for large-scale Operations
Support System (OSS) testing deployments in place of large
banks of cable modems, which would be cost prohibitive.
MIMIC IOS Simulator
MIMIC IOS Simulator fully supports Cisco IOS software and SNMPv1,
v2, v2c, v3. Up to 10,000 devices can be simulated in a
single workstation, and an unlimited number of devices can be
simulated by distributing it over multiple workstations. An
extensible environment allows new MIBs and devices to be added to
the simulation.

INSTALLATION:

Unzip, unrar and install as root
When asked if you have the license keys answer yes but do not
enter them during installation
Unzip our licenses to ôconfigö in the program folder and replace
existing ones
Copy all optional protocol modules from "bin/dynamic/optional" to
"bin/dynamic" in the program folder
You now have unlocked the full MIMIC Simulator Suite, including
the SNMP Agent, Cable Modem and IOS Simulators
