The AdLib OCR is an optional component for the AdLib eXpress product line. It
was developed using the award-winning ScanSoft OCR technology that provides
the fastest, most accurate recognition technology available.
With support for multiple input formats (300+ image and electronic formats)
and multiple output formats (searchable PDF, Text and TIFF) this combination
of eXpress and OCR provides you with a multi-function file transformation
tool useful in any document management or content management system.
AdLib OCR converts image files into searchable PDF or Text output. An
exceptional feature of AdLib's OCR is that the transformed PDF file retains
the original image as the viewable/printable layer with the newly searchable
text layer hidden behind. This ensures the viewable/printable fidelity of the
original document. The OCR'd text can also be extracted using AdLib eXpress
and used for a variety of purposes including import into full-text databases
for search and retrieval. For example, you can use the OCR/eXpress combination
to automatically receive incoming FAX images, convert them into searchable PDF
for retrievable storage, and in real-time, e-mail the text output to wireless
devices such as a Blackberry or PDA.
AdLib can also add further value to your legacy PDFs. For example, older PDF
rendering technologies would convert Word Processing files that contained an
embedded image, process the text and leave the embedded image untouched. With
AdLib eXpress/OCR, you can now re-process so that both the document content
AND the image content become searchable.
By turning your images into searchable PDF, the recipients of the files can
search the content of the document by using the search functionality found in
the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. The PDFs can also be indexed using Full Text
Engines to allow for quick retrieval and sophisticated queries of text content.
In addition to converting image files into searchable formats like PDF and
Text, the AdLib OCR tool also transforms searchable electronic files (i.e.
Word processing files, spreadsheets or presentations) into unalterable TIFF
images, a desirable feature for many industries that require a read-only
document. This process creates a secure file format for delivery, archival and
integration with other third party applications and viewers.
