█▓    Vortex simulates rigid multi-body dynamics with no restriction on     ▓█
█▓    topology; it performs fast collision detection and computes stable    ▓█
█▓    contacts on arbitrary geometries. Vortex computes impacts, contact    ▓█
█▓    forces, and all the other forces needed for high-fidelity physics     ▓█
█▓    based simulations ranging from vehicle dynamics to marine cables,     ▓█
█▓    including robots and industrial machinery. Vortex adds accurate       ▓█
█▓    physical motion and interactions to all objects in a scene,           ▓█
█▓    creating an interactive environment with no artificial                ▓█
█▓    restrictions on behavior or interactions.                             ▓█

█▓    Vx is the new, object oriented, C++ API for Vortex. Vx provides a     ▓█
█▓    consistent interface to exploit the simulation capabilities of        ▓█
█▓    Vortex for users familiar with C++, but not necessarily physics       ▓█
█▓    experts. Knowledge of vector and matrix notation, and basic           ▓█
█▓    physics, is necessary for complete understanding.                     ▓█

█▓    Vortex provides stable, fast and high-fidelity physics simulation     ▓█
█▓    for real-time, interactive 3D applications. Vortex is aimed at the    ▓█
█▓    simulation training and engineering markets.                          ▓█

█▓    Interactive means that input signals from the user are fed            ▓█
█▓    directly to the simulation at each frame to control various           ▓█
█▓    parameters such as joint angles, forces, etc. In fact, Vortex         ▓█
█▓    allows arbitrary changes to the structure of the simulated system     ▓█
█▓    in between steps, without any need to reconfigure or restart the      ▓█
█▓    simulation.                                                           ▓█

█▓    Real-time means the simulation runs at the frame rate of a visual     ▓█
█▓    display, from 30-80 Hz. Vortex is fast enough to be deliver real      ▓█
█▓    physics simulation for real life applications running at 60 frames    ▓█
█▓    per second or higher. For instance, for ground vehicle prototyping    ▓█
█▓    and operator training applications, Vortex runs significantly         ▓█
█▓    faster than the display rate, leaving enough time for graphics and    ▓█
█▓    additional processing.                                                ▓█

█▓    Vortex integrates to 3D graphics applications through geometric       ▓█
█▓    collision detection and automatic contact computation. The only       ▓█
█▓    limit on the geometric objects that can be used in a Vortex           ▓█
█▓    physics simulation is the imagination of the graphics designer or     ▓█
█▓    the computer resources.                                               ▓█

█▓    Because Vortex provides real-time interactive physics for 3D          ▓█
█▓    graphics applications, it occupies a new segment in the simulation    ▓█
█▓    market. Traditional engineering design products provide a high        ▓█
█▓    degree of fidelity, but are not real-time products, and seldom        ▓█
█▓    allow arbitrary contacts, arbitrary geometires, or dynamic            ▓█
█▓    reconfiguration. Other products built for the computer game           ▓█
█▓    industry lack the fidelity and accuracy needed to simulate actual     ▓█
█▓    objects, particularly those that must move under constraints from     ▓█
█▓    other objects like automobile suspensions or robot arms.              ▓█

█▓    The degree of physical fidelity in Vortex simulations meets the       ▓█
█▓    needs of real-time interactive 3D graphics simulations. Vortex        ▓█
