ARJ/ARJ32 is a file archiver that compresses files into a disk space
saving archive. It is fast, reliable, and has a rich set of features
which include support for the long filenames of Windows 9x, ME, NT,
2000 and XP, file version management, data damage protection, ANSI
escape sequence display handler, configurable command options,
multiple volume archives (archives that span diskettes) and much
more.

1. Select version of ARJ you want to register (Win32 or DOS). Use the
TMG Keygenerator to get your personal registration code and save it
to file called register.dat. After it input desired AV-string and
generate your personal envelope.key, wich can be used to sign your
ARJ-secured archives. Please note, that ARJ can create ARJ-secured
archives *ONLY AFTER REGISTRATION* with register.dat :)
2. Copy file register.dat to the folder with ARJ/ARJ32. There should
be also utility register.exe (can be found in ARJ installation
package). Type:
register.exe -arj32 (if you generated reg. file for ARJ32) or
register.exe -arj (if you generated reg. file for DOS version)
Please note, that you cannot register ARJ32 with keyfile created for
DOS version and visa versa.
We also decided to include keygenerator for another archiver from ARJ
authors - JAR. It has much better compression ratio than ARJ/ARJ32,
and also feature reach.Please note, that due to JAR registration
algorithm key generation can take much time (f.i. on P4 2.0 GHz it
takes 20-30 min. depending on reg. name). But it is possible to
pre-calculate special key-table (you need 128 Mb of free virtual
memory for it, and it takes ~15 min.). Using this table you can
generate as many keys as you wish in a moment ! After it just save
the key into file register.txt (actually this file can have any name)
in JAR folder and type:
jar16 reg register.txt
(both files jar16.exe and jar32.exe must be in the same folder)
Or you can just type:
jar16 reg
and input your registration name manually. Now you have registered
copy of JAR and can create JAR-secured archives.
