DISAPPEAR VERSION 2.0


DESCRIPTION:
Disappear is a little utility that changes the text color of icons on the Windows 95 Desktop to black and makes the background of the text DISAPPEAR (so that the wallpaper shows through).

INSTALLATION:
Installation is simple, just double click on the SETUP icon. Disappear will automatically install and create an icon in your Startup folder. Disappear will be activated whenever you start Windows (to disable Disappear remove the icon from your Startup folder).

If you have received the Disappear program in a zipped archive file (e.g. Disappr2.zip), the zip file must first be uncompressed before the SETUP file can be executed.

You may wish to create a shortcut for Disappear on your Desktop or other location. Simply drag the file Disappr2.exe to the desired location.

PROGRAM INSTRUCTIONS:
As stated earlier, if Disappear is in your Startup folder it will automatically be activated when Windows 95 first starts up.

Clicking the Disappear icon (or its shortcut)  will toggle text background between clear and its original color. 

You may override DisappearÆs background color by changing the settings in
CONTROL PANEL -> DISPLAY -> APPEARANCE -> DESKTOP -> COLOR.

For more information about Disappear activate it, then click on the splash screen (Unregistered users only).

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGISTERED AND UNREGISTERED VERSION:
The program as downloaded is fully functional. The unregistered version of Disappear will allow the user to sample and evaluate the program thirty times. When the program is registered the initial splash screen will no longer be seen.

MISCELLANEOUS:
This program is designed specifically for Windows 95, it will not work with Windows 3.x or NT.
This program may be freely distributed in its original form.

 Disappear is no longer available as freeware.  Version 2.0
 is now shareware.  For those of you who don't want to mess
 with a shareware program that's not cracked yet, I've also
 the older v1.0 which is freeware.  I'm not sure what it is
 that the shareware version does that's different from v1.0
 The program is supposed to make the text background of desk-
 top icons transparent.  How does one go about "improving"
 this?  I seem to remember that v1.0 used VB4 files and v2.0
 uses VB5 files.  I may be wrong about this.  If it's true
 then......"Big Deal!!!"

 Anyways, v2.0 came with a boatload of Visual Basic support
 files and an unnecessary installation routine.  I deleted
 these.  If you don't have the required VB files (very likely
 you DO have them), then go to:

 As far as the installation goes, just unzip the files to any
 folder you desire.  If you want the program to run each time
 you start Windows then create a shortcut to the program in
 Start-Up folder (C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up).
 When executed, the program runs, makes the necessary changes,
 then terminates.  Apparently, the changes must be made with
 each reboot.  I haven't looked into it before but I suspect
 that the required changes consist of a simply value edit in
 the Windows Registry.  If so, a small simple .REG file could
 perform the same action.

 I've included a Windows Registry file (30_runs.REG) which will
 allow you to renew 30 run limit imposed by the shareware version.
 Just unzip this file and double click on it when the program
 expires.
