MIDI file renderer. Patch editor.
Software wavetable synthesizer.
Audio Compositor is a professional-quality MIDI file renderer and software
wavetable synthesizer. It includes a graphical environment for editing
instrument samples and patches, and in most ways its organization resembles
that of a traditional MIDI module. Audio Compositor deals easily with very
dense scores and extraordinarily large sample collections. Simpler projects
can be computed and played back in real time. In addition to rendering MIDI
files, Audio Compositor can also be played live from an attached MIDI
keyboard, bypassing the synthesis functions of your soundcard.
Audio Compositor comes with some example sounds, but does not include an
extensive sound library. For users who prefer not to do their own sound
design, Audio Compositor can read patch banks in E-mu Systems' SoundFont
2.0 format, giving access to a wide variety of sounds (including several
complete General MIDI libraries) that are readily available on the net.
