Release Notes:
Muster is a new tool avaible for all the Alias|Wavefront Maya,
Newtek Lightwave and Softimage XSI users. Finally it give a solution
that AW missed since the first release of Maya and that's very hard
to configure on other softwares: a system to manage distributed renderings
over a network. Muster give more:UNIX and NT workstations can render
together giving all the power you need for your renders. It also works
on the Internet so you can monitor your renders while you're at home,
on the snow or at sea simply by checking your E-Mail.
Muster is composed by 4 components:
Muster Dispatcher Service
This is the core of Muster. It's a Windows NT service that runs in the
background and does all the hard job. It manages the connections with
the render machines, manage the jobs and talks with Muster Explorer.
All the features of Muster Dispatcher are listed in Muster Explorer section.
Muster Explorer
This is the front-end to users. With Muster Explorer you can manage every
aspect of Muster, either if it's installed on your local machine or on
another server, even using Internet.
Muster Render Client Service and Manager
Muster render client is the module that must be loaded on every machine
that has to be part of the render farm. It's an NT Service that can be
configured using the Render Client Manager. In version 2.52 it supports
Maya, Maya Cloth, Imgcvt, Lightwave, Softimage|XSI, Softimage|3D, Mental Ray,
Mental Ray for Maya and Custom Jobs.
Muster Unix Render Client Modules
BSD based executables for Mac OS X , Linux and Irix. Join your Unix machines
on the Renderfarm. This service has the same features of the NT render client.
Muster 3.3 Improvements
Support for Maya 5.0 Connector plug-in (NT/2000/XP only)
Support for Maya 5.0 Mental Ray Render
Support for Maya 5.0 Vector Render
Preset save/load bug fixed
Muster notificator saves preferences in current user registry
Muster Render client no longer keeps opened network. Memory leak removed.
Muster notificator detects disconnections from the dispatcher service
Support for Windows XP Controls
Edit job and change priority features added
Image assembler no longer produce memory leaks
Mental Ray, XSI and Softimage starting scritps are saved
in the correct directory
