DESCRIPTION

Netoscope is a simple and effective tool to monitor Internet 
services such as web, ftp, or mail servers.  When a monitored 
service fails, Netoscope can notify you about it or even correct 
the problem if possible.  This makes it a useful tool for both 
client and server machines.


IMPORTANT NOTE (for first time users)

This application anchors its icon near the clock in the system tray 
which, by default, is located at the bottom right of your desktop.  
You may invoke the application menu by right-clicking on the icon.


REVISION HISTORY

- v1.5  on 1999-02-10: Added e-mail notification and support for 
  placeholders in sound file names.
- v1.11 on 1998-10-16: Displayed the application system tray icon 
  after logging on when the program is used as an NT service, and 
  fixed a batch processing bug that was introduced in v1.1.
- v1.1a on 1998-10-05: Saved user settings more frequently to avoid 
  possible loss during an abnormal termination of Windows.
- v1.1  on 1998-08-25: Added batch looping and alert text placeholders.
- v1.0  on 1998-05-04: Initial release.


SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

- Windows 95, 98, NT v4.0, or later.
- Enough free disk space to accommodate the software (less than 0.5MB).


PACKAGE CONTENTS

- SetupNetoscope.exe: Software product setup file.
- ReadMe.txt: This file.
- File_ID.diz: Product identification summary.


INSTALLATION

Close the application if it is currently running, then run the 
SetupNetoscope.exe file and follow the instructions.


UPGRADES

Close the application if it is currently running, then install 
the new version on top of the old one, unless otherwise specified 
in this file.


UNINSTALLATION

Close the application if it is currently running.  Click the Windows 
"Start" button, and select "Settings", then "Control Panel".  
Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs item".  Proceed by 
double-clicking the line corresponding to this product and follow 
the instructions.

Note that configuration files, generally with a ".dat" extension, 
and registration files, namely "Registration Form.txt", may be 
created by the application and will not be deleted for your 
convenience in case you wish to refer to them at a later date.  
Delete these files manually if you do not want them.


REGISTRATION / HOW TO BUY

This product is being provided to you for evaluation purposes.  
You may use it free for 30 days, after which time you are obligated 
to purchase a license or you must discontinue using it.  You will be 
prompted to register daily during the evaluation period, and each 
time you run the software thereafter.  Answer "Yes" to the 
registration prompt in order to review registration information.  
This information may also be accessed by pressing the "Registration" 
button from the About window.

Instuctions  :  Unzip the appropriate patcher to the program directory
                and then double click on the patcher.  If the version
				number and/or file size of your program does not match
				that which is outlined above then the patcher will NOT
				work.
