                            I n s t a l l a t i o n

    a1) Install (setup.exe). Setup type choose "Local installation". At
       license question, enter anything suitable (it will appear on all
       prints).
    a2) Unrar provided protect.rar and copy hole folder into .../SCIA/ESA50/
    b) Copy lmtools.exe and license.dat from License folder into
       installdirectory/protect/ (overwrite existing file)
    c) There, start lmtools.exe. Go to tab "System Settings" and copy entry
       at "Computer/Hostname". Now open license.dat with an editor and
       replace "yourpc" with your copied hostname, then save the file.
    d) Then goto MyComputer=>Properties=>Advanced=>Environment variables,
       there at "System variables" add an entry with name: lm_license_file
       and value: 27000@yourcopiedhostname . Confirm everything and close.
    e) Now in lmtools.exe goto tab "Service/License File" and choose
       "Configuration using Services". Then goto "Config Services" tab,
       enter any service name, browse and point to lmgrd.exe and
       license.dat (for license.dat you'll have to select first appropriate
       filetype) in installdirectory/protect/ . To have that service
       permanently launched, select "Use Services" and "Start Server at
       Power Up". Finally click "Save Service"
    f) Then goto tab "Start/Stop/Reread", choose service you just set up
       and click "Start Server". In tab "Service/License File" now the
       service should show up.
    g) Let lmtools.exe OPEN, and start esa prima win. Go to
       setup=>options=>protection, set "floating license only",
       set "Network" and point to license.dat in installdirectory/protect/
       . Then click "Refresh licenses". Licenses will show up. Now close
       everything with OK, close esa prima win and close also lmtools.exe.
    h) Finally you're done. Uff!

    After more than 2 years of development, we are pleased to announce the
    release of a new product in the Engineering Structural Applications
    (ESA) range: SCIA.ESA Professional Technology.
    
    At first, let us take an overview of SCIA's goals. SCIA has set itself
    a target to create one single program environment, in which future
    structures, either in steel, concrete, mixed, soil mechanics or other,
    will be modelled. With one input method, one database and one export
    document, user efficiency will greatly increase. A further development
    is that within an analytical model, a CAD model is simultaneously
    built, allowing design drawings to be created immediately. SCIA has
    focussed on Internet development, both with regard to theuser
    environment (Internet browser) and data storage (server application).
    
    The input itself has been strongly enhanced with various CAD functions.
    With these new features, larger as well as smaller models of the
    structure can easily be modelled, even structures with parameterised
    forms such as standard halls, staircases, storage racks are possible.
    At the same time the functionality has been increased with features
    such as the fire safety to Eurocode 3 and the automatic generation of
    steel GA and detail drawings. More than 40 man-years of development
    have been devoted to these new developments. The international market
    has also been targeted. Both International and English (Imperial) unit
    systems are supported. The localisation of the product for each country
    has been simplified thanks to the component-based software
    architecture. The active output document is also something very
    special, not only are the output options highly configurable but also
    output data can be adapted in an interactive way. The model and the
    output document adapt automatically to changes in either interface.
