The Search DeveloperÆs Kit allows creation of customized search
applications which can be integrated withexternal data sources,
applications, and environments.
The Search DeveloperÆs Kit is used when search functionality must be
integrated with other applications,such as a Web discussion forum; or
when multiple custom ranking and sorting criteria are needed, such
ason auction sites and business-to-business exchanges that need to
categorize and rank search results. With the Search DeveloperÆs Kit,
developers can perform the following tasks to create a search
application:
╖ Create a new AltaVista Search Engine index.
╖ Gather information from a remote source, such as a database, and
add documents to the index.
╖ Use filters to parse the contents of a document and customize the
way it is indexed.
╖ Add fields and values to documents for categorization, sorting and
ranking.
╖ Create custom query interfaces to submit queries and return
results.
╖ Sort and match search results according to developer-defined
parameters such as categories,prices, number of bids, popularity,
etc.
╖ Delete documents from the index, or replace existing documents with
updated versions.
╖ Periodically write the contents of the in-memory index to disk, and
merge the on-disk information into a single, streamlined file.

Several things happend to TMG in 2000. Old members left, new members
joined, a new leader has been voted and some internal things
changed. Sometimes changes are necessary to keep up or even
increase an existing level of quality in a group. That's what we
did.
Since our start in 1999 we tried to increase our own quality level
release by release. 2000 was a very successful year for TMG. With
round about 3.4 Gigabyte we did more than 1400 releases of which 99%
are Keygenerators. This shows impressively where we stand today:
