█▓    Jot+ was originally written back in 1993 (as Jot Cardfile) to         ▓█
█▓    replace the Microsoft Cardfile. Effectively unchanged since           ▓█
█▓    Windows 2.0, Cardfile was a great idea for keeping notes and          ▓█
█▓    addresses that was let down by its pathetic limitations: only         ▓█
█▓    about 1,000 cards per file, and each card was limited to only a       ▓█
█▓    few lines of text!                                                    ▓█
█▓                                                                          ▓█
█▓    Jot allowed up to 8,000 notes per notefile, and each note could       ▓█
█▓    hold up to 64k of text, giving users plenty of space to keep          ▓█
█▓    their notes, addresses, recipes, or whatever, plus tools to           ▓█
█▓    manage those notes. For many, Jot was an answer to their dreams.      ▓█

█▓    In 1997 Jot+ 2.0 was released, providing hierarchical notes,          ▓█
█▓    rich text formatting, and even more features to help people           ▓█
█▓    organise their data.                                                  ▓█

█▓    When Windows 95 and NT 4.0 were released, Cardfile was nowhere        ▓█
█▓    to be found, and Microsoft has never provided a replacement -         ▓█
█▓    Jot+ is even more valuable now!                                       ▓█

█▓    The philosophy of Jot+ is to keep things as simple as possible        ▓█
█▓    while still making Jot+ a powerful tool for those who want or         ▓█
█▓    need that power. Considerable effort has gone into avoiding the       ▓█
█▓    problem of "creeping featuritis" which burdens and bloats many a      ▓█
█▓    Windows application (look at recent releases of Microsoft Office      ▓█
█▓    for the definitive example), and user feedback strongly supports      ▓█
