PatchFactory is designed for building update packages for
different applications and single files.
Most of present programs are progressing very fast and release of
new versions occurs rather often. On the one hand it comes out from
enhancement of functional capabilities of the software, but on the
other hand some mistakes or even minor defects are present in every
new version, that are revealed as times goes by and should be
removed as fast as possible.
Thus a developer is facing an acute problem to deliver new version
of his products to a customer. Delivering of the full new version
product (particularly if size of the product is quite large) via
Internet may be rather expensive and therefore undesirable
procedure to the customer. Especially in the case of frequent
release of new version products.
Therefore the key circumstance is that insertion changes to the
product from one version to another are often insignificant versus
to the size of the software product. In this case there is a
capability to build such patch that will include only differences
between old and new version products.Thus a developer will be able
to provide a smaller (comparing with total size of new version
product) patch file for customer to get current version of the
software product.
Output patch module can build (reconstruct) new version product on
the basis of old version files and patch module data,i.e. apply the
patch. Therefore it's obvious that to apply patch successfully
customer should have an old (previous) version of the product.
PatchFactory efficiently solves a problem of patch
(updates/upgrades) building.
