m9P Editor Plus is a complete rich text editor that features the DERTÖ
technique. By default, the application handles text editing with the
standard rich text format (RTF) found in documents with the (.rtf)
extension. RTF enables you to write text with persistent format and to
embed images and objects within your document. To make it easier for
you to work with several documents at once, the editor is build as a
multiple document interface (MDI) program that can host many documents
within a single user interface. One interesting feature in m9P Editor
Plus is that it can compile distributable executable rich text (DERT).
As a trademark of mental9Production, DERT technique enables you to
distribute your rich text with all of its embedded images and objects
as a single compressed and secured executable program. This ensures
that your publication reach its destination as intended without the
ability to be tempered with. The executable can be run to display your
rich text in read mode only exactly as was originally written and
formatted. Building your text as executable is especially useful for
internet distribution, where users can download and run your
publication as any ordinary program. mental9Production uses this
editor to write textual Portable Document Format (PDF) files and to
convert rich text documents to web pages. The publisher found that it
is a good idea to provide a mechanism to export text to PDF since PDF
files are so common in use. PDF files are designed to be transmitted
efficiently over the internet and they can be opened using the Adobe
Acrobat Reader. m9P Editor Plus can build web pages by transforming the
rich text (formatted text and images) to HTML format. Although the
program is a complete rich text editor in its own right, it can be used
as rich text to web page converter following the WYSIWYG style. You can
open any formatted text and convert the exact same formats, RTF, to
their equivalent HTML tags. If the text contains pictures, they will be
extracted and reproduced in JPEG format in the web page. The editor is
packed with lots of needed features. It can speak the text that is
opened or written and with its Text To Speech (TTS) engine installation
so you don't have to worry whether your system is speech-enabled or
not! The application also includes support for the famous MS Agent
character Merlin. Auto hyperlinks creates live links to files or sites
automatically when you type e-mail addresses, URL addresses, or UNC
paths. When a URL web link (starts with http://, ftp://, www., or any
other legal form) is typed, it will be identified internally by the
editor as a URL. For example, when typing www.mental9Production.com the
address will be colored blue, underlined, and the cursor changes to a
hand to signify a clickable link. The link will launch an integrated
web browser. E-mail addresses will be identified when they start with
mailto. For example mailto:[email protected] will launch
the default mail client. m9P Editor Plus is drag-and-drop-enabled,
e-mail-enabled and has an integrated light weight web browser. The
application enables you to inner-drag-and-drop text and images between
editors in the same MDI or external-drag-and-drop between m9P Editor
Plus and other text editors that support this functionality. You can
choose to send by e-mail your document rich text (with embedded images)
or your document as a PDF attachment. Finally, the integrated surfer
offers all the common functionalities expected from a modern web
browser, including the detection your bookmarks. It has page setup,
print, print preview, and it can browse for offline local pages.
