Eraser is a tool designed to destroy your sensitive data beyond
recovery. Eraser introduces a new meaning for the verb TO ERASE:
erasing a file now means wiping its contents beyond recovery,
destroying its name, date and size and finally deleting it. Eraser has
several wiping (overwriting) methods, differing in speed and security.
The fastest ones offer normal security while the slower ones match the
specifications of the U.S. Department of Defence and can even stop
hardware recovery tools. You can also define your own wipe methods and
wipe with fixed, text or random patterns. Eraser can remove entire
folders with all their subfolders and files and it can destroy
previously deleted files by wiping the disk free space. It also
features a slack wiper to wipe the unused portion of files. Sensitive
files, pictures, mail messages, temporary Internet files, they all
can be safely removed and destroyed beyond recovery with Eraser.
Features:
Features like the possibility of collecting multiple file
specifications (e.g. *.tmp) turn Eraser into a clean-up utility. The
command line parameters allow you to insert erasing/wiping commands to
your BAT files and then run this BAT file automatically using Windows95
SystemAgent or other scheduling software.
