A standard portable CD player with the bass boost engaged.
Boom Box without Bass Boost
A standard portable CD player without the bass boost engaged.
Car Stereo - Factory
A car stereo such as those found in most Ford, GM, and Japanese makes. This
model is a 4 speaker stereo with front and rear coaxial drivers.
Car Stereo - Aftermarket
An enhanced car stereo such as those purchased from automotive stereo
installers. This stereo has a higher fidelity and a better bass response.
Typical models are ClarionÖ, SonyÖ Xplode, etc.
Low Rider
A high powered car stereo system with emphasis on trunk rattling bass.
Studio Monitors
A high resolution studio monitor as used in better recording studios. This model
was based on the Mackie HR824 monitors with a very flat frequency response
curve.
Near Field Monitors
Near field monitors are smaller studio monitors used in the mix down process.
This model is based on the famous YamahaÖ NS10M near field monitors used by
nearly all professional studios.
Bookshelf Speakers
This model is based on the venerable AuratoneÖ 5C used by professionals for many
years. A single driver unit, it is perfect for simulating radio and TV. Most all
of the music heard today was mixed on this model.
Streaming Audio - Low Quality
Standard streaming media compress at 12k sub-stream for 28KB dial up
connections. Use this model for simulating what will happen to your mix when it
is streamed at the lowest quality.
Streaming Audio - Medium Quality
20KBS streaming media
Streaming Audio - High Quality
50KBS streaming media. This is typical for broad band or single ISDN
applications.
AM radio
A portable AM radio with a single, small speaker. This model also simulates the
compression and loss of frequency response associated with AM radio. Use the
mono button to get a complete picture of your mix on this model.
Record Player - 78 speed
Models a typical record from the days of 78s. This is a nice model to apply to a
track for adding warmth.
Telephone
The obligatory telephone model. This model is fun for an effect applied to a
track or could be used to simulate speech in a non-music application.
Home Theater
A typical home theater sound system with center channel, front speakers, and
rear surround speakers. Useful for TV/video applications.
Stereo TV
A good quality stereo TV model.
Standard TV
A single speaker, mono television.
Portable CD Player
A portable CD player through the supplied headphones. Modeled after the Sony
Discman.
Portable MP3 Player
Modeled after the Rio portable MP3 player. This model also simulates the
frequency losses when converting to the MP3 format. This model is useful in
creating an MP3 version of a mix.

Computer Speakers
Standard quality computer speakers as supplied with most computers. For higher
quality speaker simulation, use the Bookshelf Speakers model.
PA - Small Club
A typical PA system as heard in a small club.
Down the Hall
Audio as heard from a distance down a hallway. This technique is used by
professional mixing engineers to simulate the effects of acoustic monographic
sound.
Through the Wall
Audio as heard through a solid medium such as a wall. Another trick used by
professional mixing engineers. Also, not a bad effect to use in a song, either.
Outside the Window
Audio as heard through glass. Note the odd attenuation of the mid-range
frequencies.
Reference Headphones
Sennheiser HD 414 model. Headphones usually have a downward spike in the
mid-range which can be useful for balancing the EQ of the high and low end.
