Backup Magic is a simple, fast and compact backup/file copy utility
for power users and system administrators (it is not designed for
people who have limited knowledge about computer file system). It is
not meant for full system backup and does not have loads of options,
but it includes all of the tools required to get your daily backup
jobs done fast and easy. Backup Magic copies new or modified files
(you can specify include/exclude masks) from selected folders to
another location that can be another folder, network drive, zip disk
or whatever writeable device you see in Windows Explorer. Even making
a backup to a CD-R(W) or DVD-R(W) disk is not a problem if you have
packet-writing software like DirectCD or InCD running. You can make
multiple groups and specify several file filtering options, request
log file generation, use incremental or mirror copy mode and much
more. Additionally, you can use variables in destination folder
names, so you can automatically generate folder names with current
date/time/day (like Backup of Monday AM) - useful for keeping version
history by date.
Backup Magic is useful for both personal users and corporate users in
a networking environment:

What Backup Magic canÆt do:
* Perform full system backup (operating system) û it is not possible
to copy several key files that are in use by operating system. In
addition Backup Magic does not perform low level copying like boot
sectors etc. It is designed to copy your data files like documents,
images, databases, music etc.
* It does not support compression and disk spanning. That means when
your target disk becomes full, youÆll get an error and Backup Magic
does not prompt you to insert next disk to continue. That is because
Backup Magic uses plain file copy, not proprietary backup data
files.
