New Features in Version 7.5
============================
Assistance Center
=================
We have created the WS_FTP Pro Assistance Center to make it
easy for new users to learn how to use the application. The
Center is made up of a Getting Started Guide, Interactive
Tutorials, a list of common terms, and links to other
sources of online information.
Upload Wizard
=============
Integrated into Windows Explorer, The WS_FTP Upload Wizard
is a quick and easy method to upload files or folders.
Transfer Manager Options
========================
Auto Restart
------------
Interrupted transfers can be resumed automatically when the
application is started.
Auto Retry
----------
You can now specify the number of times you want the Transfer
Manager to attempt a transfer.
Transfer History
----------------
The History Tab has been added to the Transfer Manager,
showing files that have been successfully transferred using
WS_FTP Pro. From the History Tab, you can execute the file,
reschedule the transfer to be run again at a later time, and
see where the file was downloaded to.
Explorer Interface
==================
Local Drives have been integrated into the WS_FTP Pro Explorer
Interface.
Issues Fixed in Version 7.5
===========================
o ' not saved in file mask
o Ability to view multiple files is gone in 7.0
o One time password generator no longer works - logon doesn't
prompt for password when it receives a failure response.
o Firewall Configuration not saved when using Site Wizard
o Disconnecting from site with over 10,000 files displayed can
take up to 30 seconds to complete.
o Sync utility exclude does not actually exclude
o 606 no socket message is appearing in the log window
o [Find] After typing in Look In field, it is not possible to
select another Site.
o Command Line fails when does not specify the destination
filename on uploading
o File sizes over 4 GB do not display properly
o Find Utility Locks up
o Firewall preference cannot be removed when you have it
assigned to a site.
o Prompt for Destination filename does not function correctly
when downloading from MVS
o Scheduler runs the wrong task when the WS_FTP Pro is running and
you try to run a single transfer after a multiple transfer.
o Scheduler memory leak.
o Scheduling the sync utility and attempting to use SSL, the option
to use SSL must be set in the profile or connection will be clear.
o Cannot specify SSL in the New Site Profile Wizard
o Sorting with files selected functions incorrectly - the selection
stays the same, but the actual files that were selected have moved.
o Transfer Manager progress UI paints the whole column with progress
for the request if a child is expanded and the request is collapsed.
o WS_FTP Pro SSL creation - Certificate is misspelled.
o WS_FTP Pro will not search file list controls with keyboard - select the
first file in the list starting with Z when you press the Z
character on the keyboard.
o Don't Cache Directory Listings option - Opposite meaning
o Downloading an extremely large file and canceling the download -
takes a long time to cancel (from some sites).
o Problem transferring from UNC path. Error Code 1003 in Transfer
Manager
o Transferring many files eventually causes transfer manager and
classic to become non-responsive
o Crash when you double click on remote pane while not connected.
o CHMOD command does not refresh after performing operation.
o Convert extensions doesn't convert correctly in all circumstances.
o Refresh problem with creating new folders in connection dialog box
o Site Preferences->Startup->Remote Site Folder. If you have an
invalid folder it will still display in Address URL bar.
o Truncates filenames on download from MVS host.
o Cannot use Wild cards from command line when uploading.
o Can't turn off sounds in Explorer
o Cannot Copy/Paste using the keyboard Ctrl-C/V
o Site->Properties->Firewall information tab does not save any
information or display information.
o Ability to rename multiple files no longer exist in 7.0
o Install - Toggling Browser Integration clears one option but
leaves the other.
o [Install] Uninstall does not remove sites for Per machine install.
o Convert Extensions do not work when trying to convert an extension
to a blank extension.
o Additional Connections for Transfer does not function as described.
o WS_FTP Pro does not always open to the foreground when started.
o Renaming file with same file name that already exist does not
function properly.
o Scripting utility issues a LIST command to the server when
processing a GET command.
o Scripting utility - When specifying a profile via the command line
or CONNECT command, the firewall settings aren't used.
o Scripting utility - FIREUSER and FIREPASS command in Scripting do not
work (No longer supported - Use a Site Profile)
o Scripting utility - MGET if no files match the search criteria it
doesn't return an error.
o Sync utility does not honor SSL setting if connecting to a non-saved
site.
o Sync utility - Exclude does not work on uploads.
o Transfer Manager - Open log in Transfer Manager and close transfer
manager.
o Transfer Manager does not remember last display state (showing/closed).
o Force lowercase does not force lowercase folder names
o Convert Extensions do not work when trying to convert an
extension to a blank extension.
o Transfer Manger - Crash when closing WS_FTP Pro while transferring
o Failed transfer sound shouldn't play after pausing a file
o Problem transferring from UNC path. Error Code 1003 in Transfer Manager
o FireScript Editor - You cannot use Enter key to start a new line in Firescript
editor.

WS_FTP Pro Classic and Explorer
===============================
Description
-----------
WS_FTP Pro is a Windows-based file transfer client application that
transfers files between a user's local PC and a remote computer
system connected via a modem and telephone lines or by a local-area
network. With WS_FTP Pro, users can connect to any remote system
that has a valid Internet address and an FTP server program,
browse through directories and files, and transfer files between the
two systems. In addition, users can create, change, and remove
directories and view, execute, rename, or delete files.
WS_FTP Pro complies with the Windows sockets (Winsock) standard,
allowing you to transfer files between a wide variety of systems,
including Windows, OS/2, and UNIX systems.
WS_FTP Pro is shipped with two user interfaces: the "Classic" which
looks like a standard Windows application, and the Explorer with a
user interface that resembles Windows Explorer.

WS_FTP Find Utility
===================
Description
-----------
The WS_FTP Find Utility allows searching an FTP site for files.
This utility is useful when searching for files on a large,
complex site.

WS_FTP Scripting Utility
==========================
Description
-----------
The WS_FTP Scripting Utility automates the transfer and
management of files through FTP commands such as open, get,
and put. For example, you can create a script that instructs
WS_FTP Pro to upload certain files, and then use a scheduling
program to run the script at the same time each day or week.
Script lines that start with ';' are comments and are ignored by
the command processor.

WS_FTP Synchronize Utility
==========================
Description
-----------
The WS_FTP Synchronize Utility is designed to allow you to
"mirror" folders and directories between your PC and a remote FTP
server. It lets you keep remote sites up-to-date by automatically
uploading files which have changed, while deleting files that
have been removed from the master directory. This is especially
useful for quickly and efficiently updating live web sites from
an authoring site, or for mirroring FTP servers.

WS_FTP Scheduler Utility
==========================
Description
-----------
The WS_FTP Scheduler Utility is an interface to Windows Scheduler
that allows you to schedule time consuming or reoccurring tasks
to be executed automatically.
Known Problems
--------------
The WS_FTP Scheduler requires Internet Explorer 4.02+ to properly
function. Microsoft has discontinued the ability to download
the Task Scheduler add-in for Internet Explorer 4.x.

WS_FTP Browser Integration Utility
==================================
Description
-----------
Browser Integration allows you to use WS_FTP Pro to download files
from a web browser. With this feature, if you select a download
file in your web browser (provided the download file has an FTP
URL), the download will be processed by WS_FTP Pro.
Known Problems
--------------
Does not work with Netscape Navigator Version 6.
WS_FTP Upload Wizard
====================
Description
-----------
Integrated into Windows Explorer, The WS_FTP Upload Wizard
is a quick and easy method to upload files or folders.
Known Problems
--------------

Installing (All Applications)
=============================
If you purchased a WS_FTP Pro CD-ROM, insert the CD in a
drive. If the CD does not automatically display a "Welcome"
screen, click the Windows Start button and select Run.
Enter the CD-ROM drive letter followed by autorun.exe. For
example, D:\autorun.exe. Follow the instructions on your
screen.
If you downloaded WS_FTP Pro from the Internet, run the
downloaded application, ftpproec.exe. Follow the instructions
on your screen.
Uninstalling (All Applications)
===============================
The uninstall function removes all files associated with
WS_FTP Pro from your PC, including your configured sites.
It also removes the WS_FTP Pro Explorer icon from your desktop.
To uninstall WS_FTP Pro, you can use the Uninstall application
that is installed when you install the product. To do so, click
the Start button, select WS_FTP Pro, and then select Uninstall
WS_FTP Pro.
Updates to the User's Guide
===========================
Additions to the site INI file:
Automatic connection retry timer
--------------------------------
We added a timer to the automatic retry; the default is to
wait 30 seconds between retries. To change this option, you must
add/modify the following line in the site's INI file:
RETRYDELAY=#seconds
Automatic re-connect option
---------------------------
We added an option to automatically re-connect to a site when
a command is issued on a closed connection. This option is
"on" by default. If you wish to disable this option, you must
add the following value in the site's section of the INI file:
AUTORECONNECT=0
Sounds
------
Sounds are now completely handled through the Windows sounds
settings from the Windows Control Panel. To change or remove a
sound, go to the Control Panel, select the Sounds icon, and
then edit the appropriate event.
