MDE InfoHandler manages your information in special databases
called'Infobases'. You'll create one of these Infobases for every
type ofinformation that you want to manage. You organize the info
byassigning 'Categories' to the 'InfoItems', manually
orautomatically. These Categories are much more powerful than
thefamiliar keywords, often used when storing information and
documents,and their organisation is quite unusual. You
organizeCategories per InfobBase in up to 256 different
CategoryGroups. Onceyou have added a new Category for an Item, you
will never have to type itin again. Once created, you can easily
select it from various lists,whenever you need it. Because the
Ccategory identifier (name) is storedin a list, you can never
misspell it, and whenever you change thecategory name, it changes
everywhere in your Infobase.
The Categories and CategoryGroups come into play when you search
forinteresting informmation in a voluminous infobase. By using the
Categories,you then formulate queries upon the Infobase by making
selections fromvarious lists and assigning logical operators to
combine them. It may soundcomplex, but is performed with just a few
clicks of your mouse. Yoursearch may be narrowed further by setting
constraints for various timestamps forming part of a record. You can
also assign a special time stamp,we call it 'InfoTime', which you may
use eg for appointments,birthdays, or any other timed data.
A third interesting feature of an Infobase record is a link toan
external object, such as a file or folder of the local file system,or
an Internet page. You are able to manipulate the referenced
objectsfrom within InfoHandler. InfoHandler also supports "drag &
drop" invarious forms. You may drag the icons of documents or URLs
(Internetaddresses) onto an infoBase window, thereby creating one or
morereferences.
'Alarms' turn InfoItems into events. You can link any number ofalarms
with any number of Items. If such an alarm is raised preciseto the
minute you can activate the linked Item with one klick of yourmouse.
Alternatively you can also set 'free' alarms that are not linkedto
any Items.
The rich functionality of InfoHandler is complemented by
asophisticated graphical user interface. You may adjust this freely
tothe varying demands of the diverse Infobases and the current task.
Asa convenience, every Infobase always remembers its last layout.
