Designer is ActelÆs premier design implementation software tool suite. After
completing design entry and functional verification using your favorite frontend
design tools, simply import the resulting netlist into Designer to complete the
physical implementation for constraints management, place-and-route, timing and
power analysis, and programming.
ActelÆs Designer v5.1 software features increased gate level support through
300k gates in DesignerÆs free Gold edition, now allowing users to implement
ActelÆs newer and larger gate count Axcelerator and ProASICPLUS devices. View
the detailed device level chart for devices now covered by Designer Gold.
Designer v5.1 also introduces Magma PALACE Physical Synthesis, which is used
with Designer to further optimize the performance of ProASICPLUS designs.
PALACE does not come with Designer, but can be purchased separately. A 45 day

Actel's Designer software offers an easy-to-use and flexible solution for all
Actel's FPGA devices. It gives designers the flexibility to plug and play
industry leading EDA tools from partners such as Synplicity, Mentor Graphics,
Synopsys, Cadence, Magma Design Automation, and many other top names in the
EDA field. Advanced place-and-route algorithms accommodate the needs of todayÆs
increasingly complex design and density requirements. The architectural expertise
built into the tools enables the user to create optimal designs. Actel's Designer
software interface offers both graphical and scriptable flows in order to
accommodate your design environment. Graphical device optimization can be done
through the MultiView Navigator and Timer interfaces. These interfaces provide
expert users with maximum flexibility to drive the place-and-route tools to
achieve the timing required.
Actel's Timer and SmartPower analysis tools allow the user to perform static
timing analysis and static and dynamic power analysis on their design without
having to purchase additional tools.
Silicon Explorer enables the user to debug the design in real time by probing
internal nodes for viewing while the design is running at full speed. The user
can access Actel's ProASICPLUS device's FlashLock capability through the
Designer software. FlashLock ensures that the design stays secure and cannot
be copied by others.
Actel's Designer software features user registration and automatic software
updates through the software updates section on the Actel website. You can also
obtain a free 45 day evaluation copy that provides access to all the features of
the Designer software except for the ability to program a device.
