║ Deepsky 2000's many features will enhance your observing preparation ║
║ and will keep your notes, photos, and images organized. This version of ║
║ Deepsky 2000 represents a quantum leap over previous versions. In fact, ║
║ you can think of Deepsky 2000 as a new software product and not just ║
║ an upgrade. Many new features have been added and many have been made ║
║ easier to use. Deepsky 2000 was written with the observer in mind. ║
║ Its simple yet powerful features will provide you with the information ║
║ you require to make your observing sessions productive. ║
║ ║
║ WHAT'S NEW IN THIS RELEASE ║

║ 1) Goto and Slide Show support for the Celestron Nexstar 5 telescope has ║
║ been added. ║
║ 2) Solar system objects such as the Sun, Moon, Planets, Comets, and ║
║ asteroids can now be added to the observing plan. ║
║ 3) Enhanced selection of objects for double and variable stars. ║
║ 4) 3-Panel finder chart shows different fields of view. ║
║ 5) The planner now lets you select from multiple catalogs, ║
║ constellations, and object types with ease. ║
║ 6) A FINDER CHART now appears on several screens within the software. ║
║ For example, the finder chart button on the logbook entry screen will ║
║ display a 3-panel finder chart for the current object selected. ║
║ 7) Additional filtering options are available. ║
║ 8) 3 level sorting in the planner. ║
║ 9) Tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet screen perform various ║
║ functions. Before, several screens had to be accessed in order to get a ║
║ list of objects. ║
║ 10) A RESET button on the spreadsheet screen, resets your filters back to ║
║ default settings. In the past, some users were confused when no objects ║
║ appeared in the spreadsheet so having this button gets them back to when ║
║ they started using the software. ║
║ 11) The spreadsheet right click menu has been simplified providing quicker ║
║ access to Deepsky's functions. ║
║ 12) The Object Details screen replaces the old QUICK VIEW option. The new ║
║ screen displays pertinent information on the selected object including a ║
║ finder chart and a picture if one is available. ║
║ 13) Deepsky's FIND AN OBJECT IN THE DATABASE option has been enhanced ║
║ making it easier to quickly locate one or more objects in the database. ║
║ 14) Table maintenance lets you view the raw data in Deepsky's Access 2000 ║
║ compatible database. ║
║ 15) Logbook Types allow you to partition your logbook into various ║
║ sections. For instance, you could have a double star logbook, a variable ║
║ star logbook, and a deepsky object logbook. ║
║ 16) Specifying personal observing locations has been greatly simplified. ║
║ In previous versions the Maintain Sites option was used to define multiple ║
║ observing locations. Many people had problems using this feature so it ║
║ was taken out and replaced with a cleaner implementation. ║
║ 17) A blue hyperlink box appears on most screens within the software. ║
║ This box is used to quickly jump from one area of the software to another. ║
║ For a list of valid jump spots, just enter in a ? and a list will be ║
║ displayed. ║
║ 18) Additional telescopes and eyepieces have been added to the equipment ║
║ database. ║
║ 19) The images tab on the spreadsheet screen loads instantly. In past ║
║ versions, you had to wait some time for the list to be displayed. ║
║ 20) The What's Up Wizard has been re-designed and improved. ║
║ 21) The constellation a solar system object is currently in is now located ║
║ on the solar system information screen. ║
║ 22) A search button has been added to the Logbook Entry screen that allows ║
║ you to select the logbook entries you want displayed. In past versions, ║
║ the SHOW ALL button was the only option available. ║
║ 23) The logbook entry screen lets you quickly change logbook types. In ║
║ past versions, you had to go back to preferences to accomplish this. ║
║ 24) The software has been made more stable (from system crashes) than in ║
║ earlier versions. ║
