PFBarn allows the placing of Geometry, the reconstruction of meshes and
the extraction, mapping and rebuilding of textures from a 2D still or
moving source. PFBarn is designed for industries such as Architectural
visualisation, Games development and CG pre-visualisation.
Data generated in PFTrack and PFMatch is exported to PFBarn allowing users
to quickly build up 3D environments with a simple set of primitives and
modelling tools, using the background plate for reference. The advanced
image modelling algorithms calculate camera perspective and movement and
match these variables with any placed geometry from a single point of
view. Thus a cube placed in an environment with exactly match a cube in a
still image or video sequence. Unlike other image based modelling
applications PFBarn only requires a single image or sequence to produce
geometry saving a great deal of time both on site and in production. You
do not have to use multiple views and then painstakingly match points
between images. Multiple copies of PFBarn can be used with a single copy
of PFTrack or PFMatch providing many users with an extremely cost
effective and powerful visualisation environment.
In addition to matching the geometrical characteristics of a
background,import their own geometry into the scene and position it to
match the background plate. . This ability allows and Architect for
example, to shoot a video sequence and place a proposed building within
context inside an animated 3D environment allowing full interaction with
the scene. PFBarn will extract texture information from the image and
map it to the corresponding geometry. Textures are reconstructed from
multiple frames in the case of a moving image. This means if a
texture was visible at any point in a sequence it will be placed on
the 3D geometry in every frame making it an ideal tool for Architectural
visualisation, game development and Film effects pre-visualisation.
PFBarn also provides several automatic "hole-filling" algorithms to fix
textures that may have holes due to areas not being visible in any
image. Texture quality is dependant on the resolution of the
background plate and textures can be exported and touched up in an
image editing application such as Photoshop before being reapplied to
the geometry. The modelling toolset has been developed to allow the
rapid building of even complex objects by both experienced 3D users and
those new to 3D modelling. PFBarn also provides users with the ability to
